 Featured Special....

Does the month of March always get you down? I know for me I am usually going stir crazy thanks to the cold and gloom of the winter season during that time. My suggestion? Beat the winter blues and head to Tahiti! Our featured special this month is a 7 night cruise onboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises highly acclaimed Paul Gauguin on a delightful sailing around the islands of the South Pacific.
Departing March 1st or 8th, 2008 this all-inclusive cruise (yes tips & beverages are included!) is deliberately country club casual all the time to reflect the easy island living. This intimate ship carries only 330 passengers in all ocean view and balcony cabins. Because if it's size the Paul Gauguin can access some of the most private and stunning inlets in this exotic destination. After lowering the onboard marina on the back of the ship guests have instant access to the sparkling waters and abundant sea life.

The Paul Gauguin staterooms are all have either oceanview windows (200 sq. ft.) or private balcony cabins (305 -534 sq.ft.) Grade B or above (pictured) also features complimentary butler service.
Packing Tips

Pack only half of the clothes you think you will need. Then, while visiting different destinations buy the local clothing as you need new items (bring an extra suitecase or duffle bag). Not only will this provide you with unique and useful souviners it will also help envelope you into the local culture. Plus, who doesn't love being complimented on a piece of jewelry or a beautiful top and be able to say "Yes, I bought it when I was in..."

Travel Ideas

The next time you are in your favorite destination try to plan on doing something you normally wouldn't do and try it. You never know what new favorite activity you may discover or fun memory you will make.

Experience Highlight...Romania

Romania is a beautiful country that is often off the traveler's usual radar screen which is such a shame. The country is beautiful, the people friendly and it is very easy to get around. Bucharest, the capital is old and beautiful and some of the black cobbled streets have been around since the Roman days. Since the days of communism ended in 1989 the city has florished and you can expect to find all the best assets of a European metropolis. Museums, theathers, art gallerys, fine restaurants, first class hotels and shopping all await you. Out in the country there is hiking, sking and plenty of oppertunities for avid photographers to capture the majestic landscapes. A visit to the medieval town of Brasov to the north is another must. Walking through the city gates you will feel as if you have walked back in time to the middle ages where kings ruled and fair maidens awaited their knight in shining armour. With towers, walls, churches and city gates dating back to the 1400's it is a living piece of history. Brasov has several museums where you can relieve the past.

Not far from Brasov is one of Romania's most famous icons, Dracula's Castle. Also known as Castle Bran, a medieval fortress built to defend the area. The castle is beautiful and there is a replica of a period town down at it's base as well as a market where you can buy the local wares of wood carvings, hand embrodiered peasant blouses and (in my personal opinion) Romania's best asset...the smoked sheep cheese. I have never tasted anything like it and have tried many cheeses! Like a really good gouda but with a more smoky/salty flavor. It is the perfect accompaniment to their wonderful white bread. Driving down the roads you will see the little stands selling rounds of this culinary delight. Stop and you can buy either the whole round or just a portion for pennies.

To the south are wonderful summer resorts bordering the expansive beaches along the Black Sea. A popular destination spot for Europeans and worth a visit by Americans! Romania is also home to many of Europe's thermal and mineral spas and they can be enjoyed in state of the art facilities.

Whether you go to Romania for the cities and museums, the resorts and the spas or the mirad of outdoor activities one thing is for sure, you must go and experience the people and the quiet life of the north. One of the most beautiful moments for me was while driving down an apple blossom lined road in late April and seeing a shepard, robed in the fleeces of his flock herding them over the rolling green country side with snowcapped mountians behind them. It was breath takingly beautiful and a testament that World leaders and regimes will rise and fall but the people, the heart of the country, will never disappear. For more information about Romania please feel free to email me or check out Romania's offical tourism website.

Best time to go: April through September for all activities other than sking, then, December through March.

Looking ahead to November...An Experience Highlight on Celebrity Cruises, a featured special on Royal Caribbean and the Agency will be talking about Spring Break travel.
